Officers arrested a man in the University District early this morning after he was seen firing shots into the air.
A woman called 911 around 1 AM after seeing the man firing shots in the 4200 block of University Way NE. The 22-year-old suspect then walked toward an SUV that was parked nearby.
Police arrived and saw the suspect standing outside the front passenger door. After taking the man into custody, officers searched the area and found a handgun stashed in some bushes next to the SUV. Officers could also see a large amount of money and some suspected narcotics, tucked under the SUV’s driver seat. Officers seized the SUV and are working to get the warrant to conduct a further search of the vehicle.
Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for discharging a firearm. No one was injured in the incident.
