Officers Quickly Arrest Suspect In Belltown Robbery

Police quickly tracked down a suspected robber this morning after he held a man up at knifepoint in Belltown.

Just before 1:00 AM, the 38-year old victim was entering his workplace in the 2800 Block of 1st Avenue when the suspect ran up to him and grabbed his messenger bag. The suspect then flashed a large knife and demanded the victim’s wallet as well.

When the the victim refused, the the suspect began waving the knife around. He then fled with the victim’s backpack, and climbed into  a waiting red Ford Crown Victoria, which sped away.

Officers had noticed a similar car hours earlier in the 400 block of 2nd Ave Ext S, and returned to the location where they found the vehicle once again.

Police took the suspect, a 52-year-old man, into custody and found the victim’s messenger bag sitting in the back seat of the car.

Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery and have forwarded the case to detectives for further investigation.
