Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred on Airport Way South overnight.
At approximately 2:20 this morning, two motorcycles were travelling northbound in the 3500 block of Airport Way South. There is a curve in this section of the roadway. Both motorcycles left the northbound lanes, crossed over the southbound lanes and continued up onto a grassy area. At some point both the adult male driver and the adult female driver became separated from their motorcycles and came to rest on the west side of Airport Way South. Speed may have been a factor.
The male driver was declared deceased at the scene, while the female was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for several hours while TCIS detectives investigated the scene. The street has now been reopened, and detectives continue their investigation.
