Guns and Drugs Recovered in Early Morning Arrest

40 caltecOfficers working a night emphasis in the Pike/Pine corridor made an arrest early this morning that took two guns and narcotics off the streets.

Just before 2:00 am, officers observed a drug transaction occur near 10th Avenue and East Pike Street.  As officers moved in to contact the individuals involved, the suspect tried to flee from the scene.  Officers took the suspect into custody and recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun from his waistband as well as a small amount of narcotics.  The handgun had an extended magazine containing 16 rounds.  After placing the suspect under arrest, officers located more drugs inside the suspect’s backpack, as well as a Tech 9 semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine containing 35 rounds.  The guns and narcotics were placed into evidence and the suspect was interviewed at the precinct by Gang Unit detectives.  The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of VUCSA-Intent to Distribute, with  weapons charges recommended.  This remains an on-going Gang Unit investigation.

The East Precinct will continue to bring in additional officers on an overtime basis to address crime and community concerns.
