Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives are investigating a fatal pedestrian/train collision that occurred this afternoon at 3rd Avenue South and South Lander Street.
At approximately 2:15 pm, a man was struck by a southbound passenger train as he attempted to cross the railroad tracks at the intersection. The man sustained fatal injuries. The warning alarms and railroad crossing arm were activated at the time
TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Train service has now resumed and the streets have reopened to traffic. This remains an active and on going investigation.
