Officers arrested a 15-year-old boy Wednesday after he robbed a woman for her phone in the Holly Park neighborhood.
The 40-year-old woman was walking in the 7300 block of 38 Ave. S. around 6 PM when the suspect ran up behind her, snatched her phone out of her hand, and took off running.
The woman was able to borrow a bystander’s phone and call 911, and two SPD bike patrol officers arrived in the area a short time later and spotted the teen hiding in the backyard of a home.
After arresting the suspect, officers searched the yard and found the victim’s phone case, but not her phone. When officers questioned the teen thief about the missing phone, he shook his leg, sending the victim’s phone tumbling out of his pants.
Officers booked the teen into the King County Youth Services Center for investigation of robbery.
