Officers Recover Stolen Car Packed With Copper Wire And Pipes

Officers arrested a woman and recovered a stolen car filled with copper wire an pipes Tuesday after spotting the vehicle parked on a Georgetown street.

The car caught the attention of police around 5 AM this morning after they spotted a gray Subaru Forester parked, without license plates, in the 600 block of South Bennett Street.  As an officer drove past the car, and then turned around to investigate, two occupants exited the car and walked away.  The officer checked the vehicle’s identification number and discovered it had been stolen on March 22nd.

Additional officers searched the area and eventually found a one of the people seen exiting the stolen vehicle, a 28-year-old female, hiding behind a kayak that was left behind a nearby motel.

Officers impounded the stolen vehicle, which appeared to be filled with copper wire and piping, possibly taken in recent burglaries.

Police are investigating and are still searching for the second suspect.
