Protesters Arrested For Trespassing, Obstruction, Interference At Demonstrations Around City

Twenty-six people* were arrested, many at their request, during a series of demonstrations on Monday at bank branches around Seattle.

Police received 911 calls from multiple Chase Brank branches between 11 AM and 12 PM, indicating demonstrators were blocking bank entrances or were inside and refusing to leave.

Officers contacted demonstrators at multiple sites and monitored the protests for over an hour. At approximately 1 PM, police informed demonstrators at multiple bank branches that they could be arrested if they did not leave, and provided them with multiple opportunities to exit the properties.

Demonstrators were given time to evaluate their choices and, in many cases, eventually exited the sites without issue. However, several groups of demonstrators at banks in the East, North and West Precincts informed officers that they wanted to be arrested. They were then taken into custody for trespassing, pedestrian interference, or obstruction based on the circumstances and will be booked into the King County Jail.
