ORIGINAL:

Officers are investigating after a man was shot in Virgil Flaim Park just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses called 911 after they saw a confrontation between two men that ended with shots being fired. Officers arrived at the park and found a man with a single gunshot wound to the leg. Officers provided first aid until medics  arrived and took the victim to Harborview Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers spoke to witnesses who said the confrontation may have started because the victim owed the suspect money.  The witnesses said the suspect pulled out a silver handgun and fired, striking the victim once.  The suspect then climbed into a silver SUV and sped away.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
