Suspect Arrested for Belltown Carjacking

A 32-year-old man is in custody for investigation of robbery after police connected him to a carjacking and assault in Belltown earlier this month.

On September 12th, at 10:20 pm, West Precinct officers responded to Western Avenue and Battery Street for a report of an assault and car jacking.  The adult male victim told officers he was walking to his car when he was assaulted by four suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun.  The suspects assaulted the victim, then stole cash, the victim’s cell phone, and his 2007 Honda Civic.  Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects or the stolen car.

A week later, on September 19th, North Precinct officers observed the stolen Honda near North 85th Street and Aurora Avenue North and pulled it over.  The Honda was occupied by a female driver and a male passenger.  Both were arrested and a realistic AirSoft pellet gun was recovered from inside the car.  The stolen car was impounded and the two suspects were booked into jail for auto theft.

Robbery detectives met with the victim who positively identified the male passenger as the primary suspect from the September 12th robbery. The suspect was re-booked into King County Jail with the added robbery chage.

Robbery detectives will continue to follow up on this case.
