Gang Detectives Investigating South Park Shooting

A 20-year-old man is currently at Harborview Medical Center recovering from a gunshot wound he sustained Tuesday evening in the South Park neighborhood.

At approximately 9:30 pm calls of shots fired near the intersection of 12th Avenue South and South Donovan Street began coming into the 911 center.  Officers responded and located the victim lying down in the street, surrounded by several people.  Officers immediately started first aid as Seattle Fire arrived.  The medics then took over care and transported the victim to HMC.

Officers then began interviewing individuals in the large crowd that had gathered.  According to witnesses, the victim and several other people were in a car and were just returning to a house near 10th and Donovan when the victim was struck.  None of the witnesses interviewed could state where the shot came from.  There were conflicting witness accounts of a dark colored vehicle possibly being involved, but officers did not locate that vehicle.

Gang Unit detectives responded to the scene and will handle the follow up investigation.
