Burglar Arrested In Othello Neighborhood

An alert neighbor’s call to 911 led police to arrest a burglar on Monday shortly after he was spotted trying to get into a vacant home in the Othello neighborhood.

A neighbor called police around 11:45 AM and reported seeing a man attempting to open doors and windows of the vacant home in the 7600 block of 45th Avenue South.

Officers arrived and found the man walking around the yard, carrying a leaf blower and a bag containing a nail gun and paint sprayer.

When officers detained the man he provided a fake name and claimed to be a construction worker.

Police were able to confirm the 68-year-old man’s identity with a mobile fingerprint scanner and discovered he was, in fact, wanted on two warrants for burglary. Officers also learned the tools in the man’s possession had been taken from the home and discovered he was carrying a small amount of heroin.

Police booked the man into the King County Jail for burglary and narcotics possession.
