Man with Gun, Friend, Arrested After Assaulting and Threatening Club Security

On March 11th at approximately 12:45 am South Precinct officers were around the area of the SODO clubs as part of an emphasis patrol.  While on patrol, an officer was flagged down by venue security in the 2900 block of 1st Avenue South who stated that a patron had just been kicked out after assaulting them had threatened to return with a gun.  As the officer was obtaining the details for a report, the suspect returned in a vehicle, drove up onto the sidewalk, and got out of his vehicle with a gun in hand.  The officer immediately addressed the threat and once backup officers arrived, took the suspect into custody.

After the suspect was arrested and the gun recovered, officers learned that an accomplice was with the suspect inside the club and also assaulted employees.  Officers were able to locate that person nearby and take him into custody as well.

The gun in the suspect’s possession was a reported stolen firearm. The handgun was placed into evidence and the suspect’s vehicle was impounded.  The suspect was processed for DUI, and then later booked into the King County Jail for harassment, assault, DUI, and possession of a stolen firearm.  The suspect’s friend was also booked into KCJ .

Detectives will conduct the follow-up investigation.
