Child Recovered, Suspect Arrested In North Seattle Following Lake Forest Park Amber Alert

A  5 -year-old child was safely recovered and an adult male was arrested following a brief pursuit and multiple collisions in the Roosevelt neighborhood in Seattle Wednesday afternoon.

An Amber Alert was issued by the Lake Forest Park Police Department, stating that a 5-year-old child had been abducted by his 31-year-old father from a residence in that city.  The alert stated that the suspect was last seen driving a silver 1999 Mercedes 320, and provided the Washington State license plate number.  The alert was issued at approximately 1:30 pm.

At approximately 1:50 pm, several people called 911, stating that they believed they saw the suspect vehicle in the University District.  Seattle Police officers responded to the area, as callers continued to provide updated locations of the possible suspect Mercedes.  A patrol officer observed the suspect vehicle driving at a high rate of speed near 15th Avenue NE and NE 60th Street.  The suspect vehicle collided with a number of police patrol vehicles before coming to a stop at the intersection of 15th and 63rd.  Officers were able to safely recover the child inside the Mercedes and detain the two adult males inside the car.    Police can confirm that the suspect from the Amber Alert was the adult that was arrested.   The other male in the vehicle was detained and interviewed by police.

Seattle Fire responded to evaluate the officers involved in the collisions and transport the child and the adult suspect to the hospital. While it does not appear that either were harmed, both the child and the adult suspect are being evaluated at the hospital to ensure there are no other injuries.

There were a number of collisions involved in this incident that are being investigated.  The streets surrounding this scene are closed until this investigation is completed.

Lake Forest Park Police will handle the investigation surrounding the original Amber Alert.
