Teen Arrested After Threatening Person with Gun, A Failed Attempt at a Disguise, Crashing Stolen Car

Police arrested a teen Saturday morning after a report he threatened a man with a gun, his attempt at a disguise failed, and he crashed a car into a building after a vehicle pursuit.

A man called 911 just after 1 a.m. Saturday to report that another person had just threatened him with a gun and then drove away in a minivan.

Officers responding to the call spotted the minivan leaving the area and saw the driver attempting to hide his face by pulling his shirt up.  The officers saw through the attempts and after pulling their patrol car around, the suspect tried to speed away.  Just blocks later, the suspect crashed the van into a building at the Dearborn Street exit from I-5. The suspect escaped the van and ran until he was caught breaking into a car in the 600 block of 8 Avenue South. Police took the 17-year-old into custody without further incident.

Officers checked on the van and discovered that it had been reported stolen. Officers booked the teen into the King County Youth Services Center for investigation of vehicle theft, eluding and obstruction.
