Two In Custody Following Reports of Northgate Carjacking

Witnesses called officers to the 400 block of Northeast Northgate Way for a report of what they believed to be carjacking at 5:45 Friday evening.

Officers arrived and spoke with witnesses who said the 26-year-old man was tossed from a moving vehicle.

Seattle Fire Department medics took the victim to the hospital for evaluation but it was unclear what injuries if any, he had suffered.

The victim later told officers that he had been running alongside an SUV which he claimed to own while trying to get the person driving to stop the vehicle.

Additional officers searched the area and found the Nissan Pathfinder a few blocks away and were able to get it to stop. The driver and passenger– 26 and 27-year-old men– were both taken into custody.  The driver had multiple warrants for his arrest. The passenger was taken into custody for a weapons violation because he had a handgun concealed in his coat pocket and did not possess a valid concealed pistol license.

The driver stated he had been piloting the SUV when the victim, who he knew from prior business dealings, ran up and began pounding on the vehicle’s windows.  He then drove away causing the victim to fall to the ground.

Detectives are now working with all the involved parties to determine if any additional charges will be filed.
