Officers Arrest Man for Firing, Possessing Stolen Gun in Georgetown

A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after witnesses observed him shoot at another man.  No one was injured, and the gun was recovered.

At 7:00 pm on Wednesday, witnesses called 911 after observing two men in a disturbance at Corson Avenue South and South Michigan Street.  The witnesses reported that one man was chasing another when one produced a handgun and fired it at the other.  Fortunately there were no injuries.  Officers arrived quickly and detained the two individuals several blocks away.  The witnesses positively identified the two men as the ones involved in the incident.  The suspects were transported to the South Precinct where officers continued the investigation.  Officers located the gun, a Glock 9mm, in the bushes nearby.  The gun was recovered and it was later determined that it was stolen.

Officers interviewed both men.  The 24-year-old suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for assault and the stolen firearm. The other male was released from the precinct.   The case has been assigned to a detective for follow up.
