Police were actively patrolling the area of the 1700 block of 1 Avenue South around 12:20 a.m. Saturday after a large crowd had left a concert at a near-by venue, when they heard shots fired. Officers arrived at the scene and found a 34-year-old man in critical condition who had been shot. The Officers immediately began first aid and CPR until Seattle Fire Medics arrived and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) where he later died. Officers on scene also found a second male gunshot victim 32-years-old who was also taken to HMC with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe this incident began as a physical disturbance between several individuals. Homicide detectives interviewed the second gunshot victim and have released him pending further investigation.
