Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are conducting the investigation following a fatal vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred late Wednesday night in the Leschi neighborhood.
At approximately 11:30 pm, a Mazda sedan driven by an adult female was travelling northbound in the 1500 block of Lakeside Avenue South when the car struck a 40-year-old male in the road. Patrol officers and Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene where SFD extricated the victim from underneath the car. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer responded to the scene to evaluate the driver, as per protocol, and found no signs of impairment on the part of the driver.
TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. The driver cooperated with investigators, and was interviewed and released. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
