Detectives Investigating Monday Morning Downtown Stabbing

Detectives are investigating after a 47-year-old man was stabbed Downtown early Monday morning.

A passerby called 911 at 12:27 Monday morning to report a man sitting in a bus stop at 3rd Avenue and Union street with a stab wound to the neck.

Officers arrived and believed the man may have an arterial bleed and immediately began first aid while Seattle Fire Department Medics were en route. Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Officers were able to speak with the victim and now think the suspect was a black male in his mid-40s, approximately five foot nine inches tall, with a medium build wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and carrying a dark bag.  The victim last saw the suspect traveling North along 3rd Avenue.

Detectives are now reviewing evidence to determine what may have lead up to the assault.  Anyone with information in this case please call the tip line at 206-625-5011
