On 05/20/12, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the victims heard a window slam downstairs in their home in the 4700 block of 20 Av NE.

Since they were the only residents in the house at the time, they went outside to investigate the noise. After circling the house, one of the residents walked back inside where he found an unknown female wandering around inside the house. He asked what she was doing there. She gave a false story and attempted to leave. The resident tried to stop the female suspect from leaving. When he grabbed onto her, a second unknown male came out of the back bedroom. The male suspect used a stun gun on the victim. Both the male and female suspect ran out the back door of the house.

Officers responded and secured the scene. A K-9 responded but was unable to track due to the large amount of people in the area. North Burglary Detectives were notified. CSI responded to process the scene. Suspects are still at large.

The suspects are described as a hispanic male and white female.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Washington’s primary seat belt law. An estimated 1,010 lives have been saved since the initiation of the law requiring drivers and passengers to buckle up. To mark the occasion and maintain this trend, officers throughout Northwest Washington are conducting Click It or Ticket patrols from May 21 through June 3.

Thirty-eight agencies from King, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties will have officers out looking for unbuckled drivers and passengers.

“We are getting the word out to remind everyone to buckle up so we don’t have to write tickets,” shared Snohomish County Sheriff John Lovick, the former Mill Creek State Representative who sponsored the 2002 legislation. “The purpose of the law is to save lives and I’m really pleased to see how far we’ve come.”

Washington state is a leader in seat belt use in the United States with 97.5 percent of motorists buckling up, an increase from 82 percent in 2002 when the primary law went into effect. With the rise of seat belt use, traffic deaths statewide have declined by nearly one-third, from 658 in 2002 to 455 in 2011 (preliminary data).

Despite these promising numbers, four out of every ten people who died in car crashes in Washington in the last five years were not wearing seat belts.

Traffic safety task forces in the five counties are coordinating the Click It or Ticket patrols with support from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

Participating law enforcement agencies include:

King County: Auburn, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Burien, Covington, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Pacific, Redmond, Renton, SeaTac, Seattle, Snoqualmie, and Tukwila Police Departments and the Washington State Patrol.

Pierce County: Fircrest, Lakewood, Orting, Puyallup, Sumner, and Tacoma Police Departments, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington State Patrol.

Skagit County: Anacortes Police Department and the Washington State Patrol.

Snohomish County: Everett, Lynnwood, Marysville, and Mukilteo Police Departments, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, and the Washington State Patrol.

Whatcom County: Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, and Western Washington University Police Departments, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, and the Washington State Patrol.

Boating Season is nearly underway. Especially during the summer months, it is important that the public is reminded of boating and swimming safety tips for water activities.

The Seattle Police Department Harbor Unit has developed the following list of important water safety tips and encourages anyone who boats or enjoys water activities to review the safety information.

Insist properly fitted PFD’s (Personal Floatation Devices) be worn by everyone riding in a boat or being towed on an inner tube, skis or other device.
Never allow alcohol to be consumed when around the water.
Never swim in unsupervised areas, and never swim alone.
Do not dive or jump into unfamiliar or shallow water because of the risk of spinal cord or head injuries.
Go to shore when changing places in small tippy boats or canoes.
Limit boating to safe weather and water conditions.
Teach your child to swim or enroll them in swim classes.
Children should not jump into the pool on their own until they are able to climb out on their own.
If a river carries a stick faster than you can walk on shore, it’s moving too fast.
Don’t swim in or around lily pads because arms or legs may become entangled.

For more information, visit http://www.seattle.gov/police/units/harbor/harbor.htm

He told her no and started walking back to his apartment in the 400 block of Maynard Avenue S. Once arriving at his apartment, the female forced her way into the alcove and again confronted him.

The suspect punched the vicitm in the nose and reached into his pocket and took $100. Seattle Fire Department responded and treated the victim for facial injuries. He was later treated at the VA Hospital for lacerations to his nose. Approximately 30 minutes after the robbery, patrol stopped and identified a possible suspect. A show up was not conducted because the victim could not be located.

The Seattle Police Department, in partnership with Seattle Parks and members of the Silent War Campaign and co-sponsored by the Seattle Police Foundation, will join 15 female youths in an educational fieldtrip to Mount Vernon to learn and enjoy the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival this coming Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This fieldtrip provides an opportunity for the young women to engage with Seattle’s women officers, Park employees and members of various neighborhoods, as well as bring insight and build positive relationships with each other.

“The women police officers of the Seattle Police Department who have been involved in the planning of this fieldtrip are looking forward to actually meeting these young girls and engage them in one-on-one conversations about anything and everything the girls would like to talk about,” said Rev. Harriet Walden, the national director of the Silent War Campaign. The campaign is a program in Seattle that seeks to address the issue of ongoing violence in the African American community and has been in existence for eight years.

“I believe that this trip will offer these girls new ideas, new possibilities and a new way of seeing things related to police work if that’s a topic they choose to talk about with us” adds Lt. Carmen Best, who will be one of the officers joining them this Monday.
