Motorcycle collision in Battery Street Tunnel

On 8/5/2010, at approximately 11:17 p.m., officers responded to a call of a motorcycle collision in the Battery Street Tunnel, where the driver and a passenger were reportedly down.

It appeared that the driver lost control of his bike near the north end of the tunnel and went down.  Witnesses reported that he was seen speeding and changing lanes back and forth just before the collision.

The driver showed signs of impairment. A traffic officer initiated a blood draw of the driver at Harborview Medical Center (HMC).  The female passenger sustained non life threatening but serious injuries, she was also treated on scene and transported to HMC.

The rider suffered a fractured clavicle and also had some sever road rash.

Traffic Collision Investigators responded and processed the scene.  After the blood draw, the rider was released pending further investigation.
