On April 5th at 7:45 p.m., the victim responded to a knock on the front door of her trailer home in the 2200 block of NE 88th St. Upon looking out, she observed a Hispanic male, 30’s asking if —– was home. The victim’s mother is the person the suspect was asking for. All of a sudden the front door glass was being broken out and the suspect was reaching inside to unlock the door.
Upon gaining entry, the suspect was confronted by the victim’s boyfriend. The suspect pointed a sawed off shotgun at him demanding he back off. The suspect demanded specific items from the couple. Another suspect (W/M/30) appeared armed with a crowbar type tool. Both suspects demanded items from the victims. A female, who had been sleeping on the couch awoke from all the commotion. Upon jumping up from the couch, she must have startled the suspect with the shotgun as he struck her in the head with the butt of the shotgun. The shotgun discharged, but fortunately no one was struck.
The victim then ran out the door, screaming for help. Both suspects exited the trailer, chasing after the female victim. The suspects got into a parked vehicle, red Honda Civic and fled the scene. The victim’s boyfriend also ran outside and was able to record the license plate, which came back as a stolen vehicle. The suspects did not take anything and were further described as wearing hooded sweatshirts, baseball caps and sunglasses.
The female who was sleeping on the couch was the only injured victim and was treated at Northwest Hospital for a laceration on top of her head. The Robbery Unit was contacted and responded to process the scene and interview the victims.
A large hole likely from a shotgun slug was located in a corner of the living room behind a shelf. During the investigation, the suspect vehicle was also recovered parked and unoccupied in a parking lot in the 8900 block of Lake City Way. The vehicle was impounded to the Processing Room. The victims stated that they did not recognize the suspects.
