On January 14th, at approximately 9:13 am, West Precinct officers responded to a report of a carjacking in a parking lot of a business in the 1700 Block of Airport Way South. The victim reported that while he was parking his car, an Asian male assaulted him, grabbed his car keys, and drove off in his car. The victim called 911 several hours later to report the crime.
Prior to the victim calling 911, Southwest Precinct officers were dispatched to a hit and run collision involving the victim’s vehicle at around 7:00 am. In that case, the suspect fled on foot, leaving the car.
A short time after the hit and run collision, South Precinct officers responded to a robbery call in the 100 Block of South Kenyon Street. The suspect in that case was described as an Asian male, who robbed a taxi cab driver at gunpoint, and then fled into the “jungle”. Officers were not able to locate the suspect, but the suspect description matched that of the earlier crimes. The latest incident is very similar to a robbery that occured in the same area earlier this week. It is unknown at this time if these crimes are connected.
Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact the Seattle Police Department.
