Highland Park grocery robbed at gunpoint, suspect still at large

A Highland Park store was robbed last night by an unknown male suspect just before 7:30 pm.  Fortunately, the clerk was not injured.

Southwest Precinct officers responded to the El Quetzal mini mart, located in the 9200 Block of 2nd Avenue SW.  According to the clerk, at around 7:25 pm, a Hispanic male, between the age of 18-20, 5′ 8″ tall, 200 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and grey pants, entered the store and pointed a black revolver at him.  The suspect ordered the victim to lay on the floor while the suspect opened the register and took out some cash.  The suspect then walked out of the store southbound.  The clerk was then able to call 911.

Officers conducted an area check but were not able to locate the suspect.  This case will be forwarded to the Robbery Unit for follow up investigation.
