Officers continue to investigate an apparent BB gun shooting that occurred in West Seattle late this afternoon. At approximately 4:56 p.m. officers responded to 911 calls of a shooting in the 4700 block of 38th Avenue SW.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 31-year-old male victim was walking northbound on the east side of 38th Avenue SW when he was struck on the right cheek of his face by an unknown projectile, possibly a BB (pellet). Some witnesses helped the victim walk to a nearby fire station for treatment. Medics subsequently transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
It is unknown at this time where exactly the projectile came from or if the victim and suspect(s) are known to each other.
A male subject stepped out of a possible suspect residence and is currently being interviewed by officers. It is unknown at this time if there is more than one suspect.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
