Seattle police have noticed a pattern emerging in street robberies in the South Precinct over the last two weeks. In nine cases, between October 7th and 16th, suspects approached Asian women near their homes on Beacon Hill and the Rainier Valley and stole jewelry and other valuables.
The robberies happen quickly, with the suspects either grabbing their victims from behind or walking up to their victims, asking them a question, and snatching jewelry, purses, and credit cards from them. Six of the nine robberies occurred between 4 PM and 7:30 PM, and several of the victims–who are all between 35 and 75 years old–were walking from their cars to their homes when they were accosted.
Police have not yet found any linkage between the cases, as the descriptions of the suspects vary from case to case.
