Two suspects were arrested and a third is being sought following an armed robbery at a business in North Seattle on Saturday night.
Just before 9:00 pm, two masked suspects entered store at North 140th Street and Aurora Avenue North and robbed the clerk. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, and the pair left the store with cash, cigarettes and cigars. A female was waiting in a car parked around the corner and the three left the area prior to police arriving. Officers searched the area, but did not locate the suspect vehicle. Robbery detectives responded to the scene. Video surveillance from the store captured images of the suspects and the vehicle.
The morning after the robbery, detectives returned to the scene looking for additional surveillance video in the area and located the suspect vehicle, parked unoccupied nearby. Detectives watched the suspect vehicle until a female matching the suspect description got in the car and drove away.
Detectives followed the suspect car until it reached Shoreline, and patrol officers stopped the suspect and took the 30-year-old female into custody. Detectives interviewed her, and she admitted her involvement and named one of the other suspects as her brother.
Detectives then responded to the suspect’s residence where they eventually made contact by phone and convinced him to turn himself in. The second arrested suspect, age 17, was later booked into the Youth Services Center. Detectives are still attempting to locate the third suspect. He is described as a male in his late teens to early 20s, stocky build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, blue shorts, black backpack and grey and white gloves. This remains an active and on-going investigation. Anyone with information on this suspect is asked to contact Det. Magan in the SPD Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5540.
