Detectives Investigating Early Thursday Morning Homicide in Capitol Hill

UPDATE 8/16:

Homicide detectives have requested a 40-year-old man be charged with murder in this case.

The suspect has been in custody since March, when officers arrested him for assaulting a woman in the Chinatown-International District light rail station, and then stabbing another person near 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office previously filed charges for the two CID assaults, and today additionally filed charges for the murder.

Detectives are investigating after a man was killed in Capitol Hill early Thursday morning. 

At 12:26 a.m., police responded to the 1800 block of East Olive Way for a welfare check on a reported down person in a parking lot. Officers arrived and found a deceased adult male with significant head injuries. 

Members of SPD’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to collect evidence and process the scene. 

Homicide Detectives also responded to the scene and will continue to investigate.
