Seattle police have arrested a 32-year-old man in this case.
On June 20th, a woman’s remains were found in a greenbelt near the University of Washington.
The King County Medical Examiner determined the woman’s death was a homicide.
During the investigation, detectives developed a person of interest in the case and later connected him to DNA evidence found at the scene.
Police arrested the man on October 4th and later booked him into the King County Jail.
Detectives continue to investigate the case to determine whether other suspects were involved in the woman’s murder.

SPD Homicide Detectives are investigating after human remains were found yesterday in a greenbelt near the University of Washington.
Monday at approximately 2:30 p.m., University of Washington Police contacted SPD for assistance with an investigation of human remains that were discovered in their jurisdiction. The remains were found in a greenbelt belonging to the university near Ravenna Avenue Northeast and Northeast 45th Street.
Members of SPD’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene and Homicide Detectives responded to assist UW Police.
The remains were transferred to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. After receiving additional information from KCME, SPD detectives were able to identify the victim as a 56-year-old woman who was missing in Seattle.
SPD will now be the primary investigating agency, and this case will remain active and ongoing.
