#2022-233997/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 09-03-2022 at 0115 hours, officers were waiting for AMR with an ITA outside of the Compass Center. After 40 minutes the male subject decided to walk away. An officer attempted to guide him back to the Center when he became agitated and threw a lighter at the other officer, striking him in the face. The suspect began backing away and yelling at officers. An unknown bystander put the suspect into a bear hug, allowing the officers to reach the suspect to arrest him for the assault. The suspect went limp and went to the ground. The officers attempted to handcuff him, but he actively threw himself to the ground to avoid this. A fast back was initiated, and he was handcuffed after additional units arrived. The suspect sustained numerous abrasions from the concrete. He was booked into KCJ after being treated at Virginia Mason. The assault on the officer and Type 2 UoF were screened.

#2022-234315/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 09-03-2022 at 0128 hours, officers responded to the 5600 block of W Marginal WY SW to a report of a single vehicle into a pole. Upon arrival, officers found a significant debris field and a vehicle which had been sheered in half. Bystanders told police that the driver had been removed and transported by unknown subjects in other vehicles. Officers attempted to locate the driver but were not successful. The vehicle was impounded, and the roadway opened.

#2022-221972/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 09-03-2022 at 0222 hours, an officer conducted follow-up to a shooting where the victim was shot in the leg two weeks prior on 08/21/2022. The officer was conducting an unrelated DUI investigation at N 105 St/Aurora Ave N and spotted the suspect’s vehicle pull into the AM/PM across the street. The suspect exited the driver’s seat and entered the store. The officer called for more units, formed a contact team, and safely took the suspect into custody without incident. The officers obtained consent to search the suspect’s vehicle and located a firearm in the vehicle. Homicide was notified of the arrest by patrol. The suspect was booked into KCJ for Assault 1 and firearm was submitted into evidence.

#2022-234423/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 09-03-2022 at 0530 hours, officers responded to a report of shots heard at Rainier Ave. S. and S. Wildwood Ln. Evidence of a shooting was located and collected. There were no independent witness and no verified suspect information.

#2022-234432/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 09-03-2022 at 0556 hours, a resident set a fire in his bathroom, left his unit, went to the front desk and told them he was moving out. He left his keys and was last seen walking NB on Aurora Av N. The fire set off the bathroom sprinkler and automatic sprinkler alarm, notifying SFD. The sprinkler put out the fire and flooded the units below. SFD responded to the alarm and did water clean-up. There was minimal fire damage with additional water damage. Fire Marshal was on scene and notified SPD’s ABS.

#2022-234459/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 08-27-2022 at 0357hrs, officers responded to a report of multiple shots heard in the area of NE 125 St/15 Ave NE. Nothing was located at the time. (SPD# 22-227334) On 09-03-2022 at 0700 hours, a resident returning from vacation called to report damage caused to his home by a bullet. A patrol officer responded and observed a bullet hole through a street-facing window of the residence. The bullet appeared to have traveled through the window, struck the ceiling, and came to rest on the fireplace mantel. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the shooting. The victim does not believe he was targeted. The bullet was submitted into evidence.

#2022-234519/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 09-03-2022 at 0850 hours, an officer was at HMC guarding an unrelated prisoner. After waiting for AMR to transport the combative patient, the officer noticed an AMR on the ER ramp. While speaking to the AMR driver to see if they were there for his patient, a male emerged from the ER doors carrying metal restraints used to restraint patients to beds in the hospital. The male was being followed by HMC security, advising the male to give their property back. The male suspect turned on the security guards and began wildly swinging the metal restraints in an apparent attempt to assault the security guards. The officer acted to protect the guards. The suspect then turned his aggression toward the officer and assaulted him with the metal restraints. A type 2 Use of Force (UOF) resulted. The officer was able to detain the suspect with the assistance of HMC security. During this incident, a fast-back was broadcast. Both West and East officers responded. Suspect was booked into KCJ for Assault 3. Type 2 UOF statement completed. A/Lt. alerted.

#2022-235118/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 09-03-2022 at 2120 hours, officers responded to multiple reports of a male yelling for assistance and a shot fired. Officers found a victim with a serious head wound. Officers rendered aid and determined it was not a gunshot wound. Officers learned that the victim confronted two males attempting to steal his motorcycle from the apartment garage. During the confrontation, one of the suspects struck the victim multiple times in the head with a motorcycle helmet and the other stole a handgun off the victim. During the struggle, a shot was possibly inadvertently fired from the victim’s firearm. Multiple witnesses reported hearing the gunshot. There was no evidence of a shooting found. The two suspects left on foot, one possibly on a motorcycle. The victim was treated by SFD on scene and transported to HMC. Robbery was notified and screened the incident.
