#2024-281630/North Precinct/Third Watch:
At 0055 hours, a suspect has been declining mentally and self-medicating with narcotics. He became very paranoid about his apartment complex. He assaulted a male at a neighboring bar before returning to his apartment complex. In the complex parking lot, he used an axe to destroy the windows of 14 vehicles before being confronted by neighbors. The suspect threatened to kill one of the victims with the axe before fleeing to his apartment as officers arrived. Police contained the apartment, and the suspect stated he had multiple weapons and wasn’t coming out. Officers negotiated with the suspect until HNT was able to arrive and take over. During negotiations, the suspect attempted to flee. A taser was utilized to subdue the suspect and take him into custody. A warrant was served on the suspect’s apartment and evidence was recovered evidence.
#2024-282308/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
At 1702 hours, officers responded to a drive by shooting in the 2600 blk of California SW. The victim stated that while stopped for a red light, the vehicle behind him moved around his vehicle and ran the red light. The victim honked at the suspect vehicle which seemed to anger the occupants of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle circled the block and drove past the victim vehicle. As the suspects drove past, the rear passenger fired three rounds at the victim vehicle. One round ricocheted off the roof of the vehicle. A search for the rounds and the casings was negative. Call was screened this incident with GVRU.
#2024-282456/West Precinct/Third Watch:
At 1945 hours, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of S Jackson St for a brandishing call. The caller and his partner were reading a menu posted on the outside of a restaurant when the owner stepped out of the business and pointed a firearm at the caller, apparently unprovoked. Evidence of the incident exists. The suspect was placed into custody and a firearm recovered.
#2024-282401/South Precinct/Third Watch:
At 1742 hours, a suspect walked into a supermarket in the 3900 block of S Othello St and loss prevention witnessed the suspect put $350 worth of cosmetics concealed on her person. LP tried to stop the suspect before exiting the store. Suspect was able to leave the store and got into a VW vehicle. LP went to take a picture of the suspect and plate of the vehicle, and the driver of the vehicle pointed a firearm at LP. Suspect and armed driver fled. Robbery notified of the incident.
#2024-282557/South Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2235 hours, a victim was exiting a mini mart after concluding his shopping. Suspect approached and pointed a gun at the victim and told him to give him his money. Victim told the suspect he didn’t have any money and showed the suspect his empty wallet and told the suspect he could have his cards. Suspect told the victim “Never mind” and then drove off westbound in a red sedan towards a supermarket in the 9200 block of Rainier Av S. Suspect attempted to commit another robbery at the Safeway gas station and was apprehended. (24-282556). suspect identified as juvenile and transported to HMC for medical evaluation and later booked into YSC. Robbery notified of incident.
#2024-282565/East Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2227 hours, 911 received a report of an armed robbery at a mini mart. Suspect robbed the store and multiple customers. The suspect was not located.
#2024-282590/East Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2255 hours, 911 received a report of an armed robbery at a mini mart. Suspect stole cash from the register along with a wallet and phone. Suspect was not located.
#2024-282556/South Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2221 hours, a victim was at the Safeway gas station checking his tire pressure when the suspect pulled up in a red sedan, got out and approached him, the victim knelt at his tire. Suspect put his gun to the victim’s neck and told him to stand up and give him his money and phone. The victim spoke limited English and tried to tell the suspect his phone was in the car, and he didn’t have any money. The victim was in the process of handing his bag over to the suspect, when the suspect for some reason pulled out a wad of fake money and started counting it. The victim was a law enforcement in Columbia and disarmed the suspect. The victim pinned the suspect on the ground until officers arrived and placed the suspect in custody. The suspect’s red sedan was stolen vehicle out of Des Moines and the gun returned as stolen. Suspect sustained minor injuries from wrestling with victim. The suspect was transported to HMC for medical evaluation and later booked into YSC for 2 counts attempted Robbery 1, PSV, Possession of a stolen gun. Arrest was screened with Robbery Unit.
