Seattle Police Investigate 2 Deadly Hit-and-Run Crashes Involving Pedestrians

Seattle police are investigating two deadly hit-and-run crashes involving a pedestrian on Feb. 1. In both incidents, the victims did not survive, and the suspect(s) sped away from the scene.

Officers were first called to the area of Northwest Market Street and 15th Avenue Northwest in Ballard at about 1:21 a.m.

Witnesses told Seattle police they saw a pickup truck traveling eastbound on Northwest Market Street when the driver hit the victim, a 39-year-old man.

Police were told the pickup truck sped off eastbound on Northwest Market Street following the collision.

Several people stopped to try to help the man who’d been seriously hurt.

Seattle Fire Department medics responded to the scene, treating the victim in the intersection and rushing him to Harborview Medical Center. The man did not survive.


At 2:08 a.m., Seattle police officers were dispatched to the area of North 125th Street and Aurora Avenue North in Bitter Lake for the report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

Witnesses told investigators they saw a silver sedan speeding northbound on Aurora Avenue North.

They said the victim, who has been identified as a 42-year-old man, was crossing Aurora Avenue North when he was hit.

Seattle Fire Department medics were called to the scene and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. He did not survive.

The circumstances of both hit-and-run collisions are still under investigation.
