Shooting in West Seattle

Posted by Media Relations

On May 1 at approximately 7:30 p.m. officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2600 block of Alki Avenue SW. Investigation thus far indicates that the male victim believed to be in his late-teens was standing with some friends near a parked car. The male suspect(s) fired at the victim from across the street, striking the victim in the back and also striking the parked car. The suspect(s) then fled the scene on foot and remain at large. Friends of the victim loaded him into their car and drove away from the scene. Officers stopped that vehicle in the 1600 block of Harbor Avenue SW. The victim was transported from that location to Harborview Medical Center by SFD Medics with life-threatening injuries. The other occupants of the vehicle were transported to police headquarters where they are being interviewed by detectives. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the evidence room for processing. A K-9 track was conducted but was unsuccessful. Homicide and Gang Unit Detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
