Man found dead in the jungle
Posted by SPD Media Relations
On July 22nd at 12:30 a.m. a transient male walked up to a parking enforcement officer in the 1700 block of Airport Way South and told him that a man had been shot at a nearby transient camp underneath I-5.
Officers responded to the scene and found the victim, an unidentified transient male, dead from a single gunshot wound to the torso.
Seattle Fire Department medics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The responding officers gathered witnesses from the surrounding camps and kept them at the scene. Unfortunately, none of the witnesses were able to provide a suspect description.
Several reported hearing a single shot about twenty minutes before our arrival, and one reported seeing an indistinct figure flee the area on foot right after hearing the shot.
Homicide and CSI Detectives responded to the scene. This remains an active and on-going homicide investigation.
