On 11/4/09, at approximately 10:30 p.m., this situation began as a felony Domestic Violence assault between an adult male suspect and an adult female victim in the 8200 block of 4th Av NE.
The suspect accused the victim of cheating on him and punched her in her face and strangled her. The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground and wouldn’t allow her leave.
The suspect tried to get his gun out of the gun cabinet and the victim was able to flee and run to a neighbor’s house. The suspect then left out the back, taking the victim’s car. The suspect made suicidal threats.
Responding officers did not locate the suspect; however, he returned to the house. Knowing the suspect had access to guns, and that he was suicidal, SWAT and Negotiators responded to the scene.
After several hours had passed, and numerous tactical deployments had not brought the suspect out, SWAT entered the residence and found the suspect DOA in the basement from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
