Train/pedestrian collision

On November 6th at approximately 11:30 p.m. officers responded to a 911 report of a train/pedestrian collision.  Investigation indicates that a northbound locomotive was stopped on the westernmost set of railroad tracks blocking the intersection of Elliott Avenue and Clay Street.  A 34-year-old male pedestrian attempted to cross the railroad tracks eastbound by crawling under one of the stopped train cars.  He then stepped out from under that train into the path of a southbound locomotive and was struck.

SFD medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
