Pedestrian crosswalk enforcement patrols

On April 29th starting at 9:48 a.m. Seattle Police Traffic Unit officers conducted pedestrian crosswalk enforcement patrols at two locations, 41st and Stone Way North and the 2800 block of Airport Way South.

At 41st and Stone Way North, officers issued 40 “Right of Way Pedestrian” tickets, one ticket for failure to wear a bicycle helmet, two No Proof of Insurance tickets and one Expired Tabs ticket.  Officers received numerous comments of appreciation and thanks from people in the neighborhood.  While officers were enroute to the 2800 block of Airport Way South, an additional four citations were issued including a prohibited pedestrian crossing ticket, a red light ticket and two No Proof of Insurance tickets.

In the 2800 block of Airport Way South the crosswalk is now very well marked.  After 50 minutes of being on scene officers were still able to witness 11 “Right of Way Pedestrian” violations (which resulted in tickets).  Officers also issued tickets for No Proof of Insurance and a cell phone violation.

The Seattle Police Department encourages all community members to be familiar with and obey all local and state traffic laws regardless of whether they are driving, cycling, biking or walking.
