Man injured in Vehicle vs Scooter collision

On August 11, 2011, at approximately 12:29 p.m., it appears that female driving a VW sedan attempted a left turn from northbound Fremont Av N to westbound N 34th St.  In doing so, she collided with an adult male rider operating a motor scooter southbound on Fremont Av N, approaching N 34th St.  The two vehicles collided in the western half of the intersection.   The motor scooter operator suffered potential life-threatening injuries.  He was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire personnel then immediately transported by Medic Unit to Harborview Medical Center.

A one-year old infant was present in the sedan at the time of the collision.  The child was evaluated at the scene by Seattle FD personnel.  The child appeared uninjured and did not require further treatment.  The adult female driver was evaluated at the scene for signs of impairment by an SPD Drug Recognition Expert Officer.  No signs of impairment were detected.  The driver of the sedan was released from the scene.

The investigation continues.
