On September 20th, just before 5:00 am, a witness observed a male setting a fire in a plastic recycle bin in the alley between 3rd and 4th Avenue on Blanchard Street. The witness called 911 and provided a good description of the suspect and the direction he was headed. Officers immediately responded to the area. A West Precinct officer actually saw the suspect in the alley between 5th and 6th Avenue start another fire in a metal Dumpster. After a brief foot chase, the officer caught the suspect. The original witness was able to positively identify the suspect. He was arrested and transported to the West Precinct, where Arson and Bomb Squad (ABS) detectives interviewed him. He was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Arson.
