On 9/23/11, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers came upon information pertaining to the whereabouts of a warrant suspect, who was also a notorious auto thief and trafficker of stolen property.

Officers set up surveillance and utilized covert assistance by the Major Crimes Task Force.  The suspect parked in a upper parking lot in the 1400 block of Broadway, where he exited his car (a red Subaru).  Officers arrested the suspect and inspected the car.

The vehicle had color photocopied license plates of a similar vehicle and the VIN was not visible from outside the car.  The owner of the real license plates confirmed that he had his vehicle and the real plates.  The red Subaru was impounded pending a warrant by Auto Theft. The 43-yr-old man was arrested and booked into King County Jail for several outstanding warrants and Violation of the Uniform Control Substance Act. More charges are pending.
