A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm in the second of two confrontations between motorists. At approximately 10:35 p.m. tonight three males (the victims) were in their Honda 2-door stopped at the intersection of Beacon Avenue South and South Spokane Street. The suspect vehicle pulled up along side the victims and fired a gunshot at them. The victims took off and the suspects began chasing them. In the 2200 block of South Lucille Street the victims collided with a planting strip and possibly immobilized their vehicle. All three victims got out of the car and took off running northbound on 22nd Avenue South.
The suspects caught up to the victims at the intersection of 22nd Avenue South and South Lucille Street. A suspect exited the suspect vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the three victims, striking one of them in the right bicep. The suspect then got back into the suspect vehicle and fled the scene.
It is unknown at this time what, if anything, precipitated the initial confrontation and gunfire.
SFD medics transported the 24-year-old male gunshot victim to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
There is no suspect description available and it is unknown at this time how many suspects were in the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle is described as a small, foreign-model sedan. Both the suspects and suspect vehicle remain at large.
South Precinct patrol officers are actively investigating the incident. The Gang Unit will be handling the follow up investigation.
