Shots fired near Othello Playfield-Man arrested

Man caught while trying to deep-six a handgun in the grass. Just shortly before 1:00 a.m. this morning officers responded to a shots fired call at Othello Playfield. Witnesses contacted police and described the shooters as a group of Asian males. Officers checked the playfield and it was clear of victim/suspects.

Minutes later a robbery call came out at Rainier and Othello and officers responded there and found a group of persons at the bus stop.  While being contacted one of the males walked towards the back of the group and threw a gun into the grass.  Officers observed this, arrested the suspect, and recovered the gun.

The victim of the robbery responded to this scene and stated none of the people there were involved in the robbery.  Offices went back to the playfield and found five casings.  They match the manufacturer and caliber of the bullets in the recovered gun.  The 25-year-old suspect is a felon and was later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of (VUFA) Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act.
