Detectives are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman this morning

A Woman was sexually assaulted this morning as she slept at her camp site. This morning at approximately at 5:30 a.m., the victim initially contacted an unknown passing Good Samaritan who immediately referred her to the nearby Metro Supervisor on 4th Ave S just north of S Royal Brougham Wy.

She reported to the Metro Supervisor that she’d been assaulted and raped and was seeking assistance.  Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate.  When the officers arrived, Seattle Fire was already on scene providing treatment for obviously bleeding facial injuries to the victim.  The victim reported that she has a camp near by and that she usually shares the camp with a male friend.  However she was alone this morning and at about 2:00 a.m., she was asleep in her makeshift tent, when the unknown suspect entered, held her down, assaulted and raped her.

She was able to provide a description of where her camp was and described some items officers would find at the camp, and using that info, officers located the camp.

Special Assault detectives responded and processed the scene.  The victim sustained swelling and lacerations to her face (bridge of nose,) bruising to the back of her head and sore ribs. She  was transported to Harborview Medical Center.  The suspect remains at large.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5′ 8, balding grey hair, “protruding eyes”. He was wearing blue jean shorts, red Nike belt with “N” on buckle and red nike shoes.

The victim initially contacted an unknown passing Good Samaritan who immediately referred her to the nearby Metro Supervisor. Detectives are requesting contact from that unknown witness as he may be able to assist in this investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1.

The investigation continues.
