Motorcycle Fatality Collision on Viaduct

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are currently investigating the circumstances that caused a man riding a motorcycle last night on the Alaskan Way Viaduct to lose control and be ejected to the road below, killing him.

At around 9:30 pm last night, a man riding a Triumph motorcycle was travelling northbound on the Viaduct.   The motorcyclist struck the east guard rail and he was ejected from the motorcycle, falling to Railroad Avenue below.  Speed may have been a factor in this collision.

Seattle Police and Fire immediately responded and Seattle Fire pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.  TCIS detectives responded and processed the scene.  The Medical Examiner also responded.  The roadway was closed during the investigation but is now back open.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.
