Officers continue to search for a man who shot a gas station clerk after stealing a 12-pack of beer early this evening.

At approximately 8:11 p.m. officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 900 block of James Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male suspect entered the 76 gas station convenience store, grabbed a 12-pack of beer and walked out the door without paying. A store clerk and another employee chased after the suspect, who ran northbound on Terry Street.

As the suspect approached the intersection of Terry and Cherry Streets he turned around and fired one gunshot at the store clerk, striking the clerk in the foot. The suspect then got into a waiting vehicle described as a large, dark-colored car, possibly a 2-door. The suspects then fled westbound on Cherry Street and remain at large.

The shooter is described as a black male in his late teens to early 20’s, last seen wearing a black jacket, tan pants and a maroon scarf.

The victim, a 25 year old male, was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he is being treated for his non-life-threatening injuries. The other store employee that gave chase was not injured.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identities or whereabouts of the suspects or suspect vehicle is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5535.
