*UPDATE* Woman Shot During Disturbance in Pioneer Square

The investigation thus far indicates that this incident started as a disturbance between two males that rapidly spun out of control. It is believed that the initial disturbance began on the southeast corner of 2nd Avenue South and South Main Street. At least two people are believed to have fired guns during the disturbance and five people with gunshot wounds have been identified.

The five people that were shot during the incident are all adults and include three males, ages 24, 20, and 19; and two females, ages 26 and 22. 

Responding officers located the most seriously wounded person, the 26-year-old female, on the northeast corner of 2nd Avenue South and South Main Street with a gunshot wound to her facial area.

Fire department medics transported her to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, where she remains under treatment.

Eventually, detectives identified four other people with gunshot wounds as being involved in the incident. All four of them sustained non-life-threatening injuries.   

The male driver of the vehicle stopped at 2nd Avenue South and South King Street was interviewed and released pending further investigation. His vehicle was impounded for further analysis.

One suspect, a 21-year-old male, was identified and arrested away from the scene. He was interviewed and subsequently booked into the King County Jail for felony assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Homicide/Assault and CSI detectives continue to actively investigate.

A female shooting victim sustained life-threatening injuries during a disturbance near 2nd Avenue Extension South and South Main Street early this morning.

At approximately 1:10 a.m. an officer on patrol in the vicinity of 2nd Avenue and Cherry Street heard gunshots to the south and headed toward the gunfire. A woman driving a beige sedan was fleeing the scene driving northbound on southbound-only 2nd Avenue Extension South. She struck a fully-marked police car traveling southbound on 2nd Avenue Extension South that was responding to the shots fired. After striking the police car the woman lost control of her vehicle and struck a parked car on the west side of the street. Neither the woman nor the officer were injured in the collision. She is currently being detained for further investigation.

As additional officers came into the area they discovered a woman who had been shot in the head near the northwest corner of 2nd Avenue Extension South and South Main Street.

Fire department medics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with life-threatening injuries. 

At approximately 1:27 a.m. a male was dropped off at HMC’s emergency room with a gunshot wound to the foot. The vehicle that dropped that male off then left the scene. That vehicle has been located and stopped on MLK Jr. Way South and the occupants detained for further investigation.

Anti-Crime Team officers stopped a vehicle possibly connected to the disturbance at 2nd Avenue South and South King Street. The occupants of the vehicle have been detained for further investigation. 

At approximately 1:52 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle at 18th Avenue and East Howell Street possibly connected to the shooting. The occupants of the vehicle have been detained for further investigation.

Homicide and CSI detectives have responded to the scene at 2nd Avenue Extension South and South Main Street and continue to actively investigate.
