Sergeant Adrian Diaz receives Hispanic Heritage Award

20160913-7835-450-071On September 13, 2016, Sergeant Adrian Diaz received the Hispanic Heritage Award. The award recognizes the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market. Surrounded by his family and dozens of kids, Adrian received a surprise visit from Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin, who presented him with a trophy and a $2,000 check to benefit a non-profit of his choice.

Adrian has been instrumental as part of SPD’s Community Outreach Unit. In addition to leading a number of youth engagement initiatives, including the Explorers program, Adrian partnered with the NW Premier Football League to establish SPD’s first Police Activities League (PAL). PAL kicked off this year with flag football, serving more than 150 youth. Adrian has also been responsible for leading countless conversations that have taken place between youth and police to promote greater understanding and stronger relationships.
