Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting death of a man Friday evening near the Rainier Playfield.
The victim, a male in his early 20’s, was standing with a group of individuals near 37th Avenue South and South Oregon Street just before 7:00 pm. The group was standing in front of a memorial placed there following a fatal shooting that happened there Sunday evening.
According to witnesses, a dark colored sedan, and possibly a second car, drove by the group. A person inside one of those cars fired several shots at the group, striking the victim several times. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center but he died from his injuries.
Patrol officers and detectives from the Homicide, Gangs, and CSI Units all responded to process the scene and interview witnesses.
