Detectives Investigating University District Pedestrian/Vehicle Collision

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded to the University District early this morning to investigate a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.  The 45-year-old male pedestrian was transported to Harborview Medical Center via Seattle Fire medics with serious injuries.

Just after 1:00 am, officers and Seattle Fire responded to a report of a car/pedestrian collision at NE 45th Street and 5th Avenue NE.  The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old male, was travelling westbound on 45th when he attempted to turn southbound onto 5th Avenue.  It is believed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street when the collision occurred.  Seattle Fire transported the injured pedestrian to the hospital.  Officers evaluated the driver for any signs of impairment, but found none.

TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.  This remains an active and on-going investigation.
